OCT-NOV-DEC 2006

Dear Christian Friends,

Greetings in the Name above all others: JESUS! We hope this newsletter finds all of you in good health and a time of reflection for all He has done over the past year. Nothing but thanksgiving and praise is due His Name no matter how hard the year has been because: HE IS FAITHFUL!

In early October I found myself traveling to New York City with Rev. Gamaliel Ayala for the purpose of visiting an inmate at Rykers Island Correctional Facility and to also attend the funeral of one the Lord’s servants affectionately known as “Mama Leo”.

She was a trophy of His grace and a true pioneer in working with drug addicts in the City of New York, even before Dave Wilkerson started Teen Challenge in 1958. There have been many fruits that came from the program she named “Damascus”.

In November shortly before I was preparing to go to California I was in the Rochester, NY bus station meeting with the families of inmates when a young man came there being somewhat disruptive. In the course of conversation with this young man I was able to lead him to the only One who could give him the peace he so desperately needed: JESUS. It truly was a God appointment! Also before I left for California my wife Sandra was interviewed on November 14th by the 700 Club concerning a healing from allergies she received by a word of knowledge given by Gordon Robertson. (see 1st Corinthians 12:8 and Psalm 107:20-21) We serve a good God and a healing Jesus. Praise His Name! I went to California with the original intention of seeing one of my dearest, life long friends, Luis Cruz. He however passed onto glory before I arrived. While I felt bad not to have seen him one last time I have the peace and joy of knowing I will see him again one day on the other side. There is no better hope on this earth than what our Savior gives us! I was able to visit his family and help offer comfort. While there I was able to attend the 8th anniversary of the church he started. He was a Bible school teacher for many years and felt the Lord also calling him to begin a church. The Lord gave me an opportunity to share on God’s delivering power. Also during my stay I was able to meet with other ministers. Upon my return home we took an orientation class at the Orleans Prison in Albion, NY. Because of that the Volunteer Coordinator approached us to also look at providing chapel services at the women’s prison-Albion Correctional Facility-which is literally next door. We were told the need is very great. We were also told shortly thereafter there is opportunity for us at Auburn Prison as well as other facilities. We know that the Lord opened this door for us (Colossians 4:3-4). Of course we need your prayers and support as we want to expend our energies and resources wisely believing the Lord to help us in every way to pour out blessing on a lost and dying world.

In December we found ourselves having the privilege of going to the Seneca County Jail on December 18th for their Christmas sharing party. We went in with a couple from our church, Roger and Bobbi DeVries and again we were able to take in cookies so generously provided by our home church, Living Word (Ontario, NY) where Rev. Barden Gerace is the pastor. We thank you all so much and you’ll never know how much your generosity touches those behind bars. This year it touched one man in particular, who claimed to be a Muslim, in such a way that he was at least willing to come the following week to our regularly scheduled service on Christmas night. (Of course the irony of a Muslim coming to a known Christmas celebration was not lost on us.) He sat through the entire service not looking to disrupt at all but to see just what the attraction of this God of the Christians really is. While he did not accept the invitation to receive Jesus Christ it did give him the opportunity to hear of The Way, The Truth and The Life and at least consider the Son of God. We were however able to lead one to the Lord that night and when he is released shortly he will return to Florida to go to a program we recommended to him near where he lives. So please continue to keep these men in prayer. Over the course of this year we have seen more than 80 souls give their lives to the Master and you’ve had a part in that by way of your prayers and support. We pray for you and thank God so much for you.

In January 2007 we ask for prayer as we will be traveling to Pennsylvania and Virginia. In Pennsylvania we will be speaking at the program New Life for Girls, where Rev. Jose Pacheco is the Executive Director. From there we will be speaking at the First Bi-lingual Church of Harrisburg. We’re believing God to do great things among His people. Afterward we’ll be traveling to Virginia Beach, VA for a ministers’ retreat at the Rock Church where Bishop John & Anne Gimenez are the pastors. We are looking forward to the times of refreshing while we are there as well as hearing from the Lord in terms of direction for the year 2007.

We have been blessed in 2006 by all of you and by His absolute faithfulness to us over this past year, especially during the months of life threatening illnesses and recuperation. What an awesome and great God we serve!

BE ENCOURAGED IN THE LORD! (1ST CORINTHIANS 15:58)

Yours in Christ,

Herman & Sandy
