OCT-NOV-DEC 2005

Dear Christian Friends,

We’re writing to greet you in the ONLY NAME that can rescue the souls of men: JESUS!

Thank you all so much for all your support in prayer and finances this year. We could not do what the Lord has called us to do without you!

In September we ministered at the Seneca County Jail with volunteers from our home church, Living Word (Ontario, NY). What joy unspeakable we had as we saw 11 inmates come forward to receive Christ! These precious ones are in answer to prayer, yours and ours! Talk about a party in heaven!

October found us busy sharing and speaking across the state as well as taking a short evangelistic trip to Puerto Rico. We spoke at Cross River Church (Niagara Falls, NY) where Rev. Mike Chorey is the pastor. (He’s also the executive director for Joshua Revolution.) The Lord gave me a message entitled “Spiritual Warfare”. One young man involved in Satanism came forward to accept Christ, renouncing his old master! Glory to God! Many others came forward to receive prayer for healing (Mark 16:17, 18) and the baptism in the Holy Spirit (Acts 19:2). One lady in particular, who had a cane, came forward for her leg and congestive heart failure. I asked my wife, Sandra to pray for her. Afterwards she walked steadily without her cane! I then told her to back to the doctor to be re-examined and then report back to her pastor (which we found out is her son). A few days later Rev. Chorey called us to say, “My mother is “flying”! She’s been to the doctor and he told her that he couldn’t understand what happened but she no longer has congestive heart failure!” To God be the glory, great things He has done!

During my evangelistic trip to Puerto Rico (October 27-31) I ministered at Teen Challenge where many young people recognized their need for the baptism in the Holy Spirit and came forward for prayer. The following day I ministered at a youth prison (where all the inmates are 16-18 yrs.) Many came forward to receive Jesus, weeping as He touched them. What joy to see these young men surrender to the Lord! From there I spoke at a men’s prison. The chaplain rejoiced to see how the Lord was working, breaking the stony hearts of the inmates and giving them new hearts (Ezekiel 11:19). On my last day in Puerto Rico I spoke at a Baptist Church in Caguas. The message the Lord gave me was entitled:”When God Interferes with Your Faith and Circumstances” from the book of Hebrews, chapter 11. Many came to altar to receive Him and many others came for refreshment before the Lord.

We are currently taking a class called “Ministry to Muslims” at Elim Bible Institute (Dick & Shan Dreyer, instructors) in order to gain a more effective understanding of Islam and how to better witness to Muslims. We felt the need to do so because we are seeing a shift in the jail population. We had previously seen the influence of Islam only in the prisons (and not for the better either!). As our society becomes more and more secularized and ‘unchurched”, people are coming up empty. The Muslims are taking advantage of this and are taking our young people captive! How much more should we, as Christians, who have the TRUTH, carry the Gospel to our nation?!

In November we’ve been busy translating for a visiting Cuban pastor and Superintendent of the Methodist Church in the Isle of Youth and his wife while they are visiting area churches. Speaking of Cuba, we are asking you to continue in prayer for our “never ending, still pending” application to go to Cuba. We know the Lord is able to remove all stumbling blocks. We especially want to thank Linda McQueen (church secretary) for her labor of love in helping us with this process. Linda, you’re the best!

We also had Jesse home for a couple of days and had a “mini” Thanksgiving with him before he headed back to Florida. We are so grateful for all your prayers on his behalf as he has matured a lot. It has been such a challenge for him to work through his learning disability and let the Lord give him the ability he needs to move into the next phase of his life. We are enjoying this season of Thanksgiving (our favorite holiday) as we look at all the Lord has done. Of course every day is Thanksgiving when we walk with Jesus!

On December 10th I’ll be sharing my testimony at the Men’s Breakfast in our home church, Living Word. So please pray for me. We will also be speaking at Community Faith Church (Rochester, NY) on December 11th.

During this stressful time of the year it’s easy to get overwhelmed with the “busy-ness” and totally miss God’s opportunities and what He is doing but we encourage you to take the time to be about the Father’s business so as to demonstrate Jesus!

Be encouraged in the Lord! (Mark 16:6)

Yours in Jesus,

Herman & Sandra
