JULY-AUG-SEPT 2006

Dear Christian Friends,

We greet you in the Name above all others, Jesus! We are writing to share with you what the Lord has been doing over the past few months.

On July 20th we attended the Elim Ministers’ Regional Summer Meeting in Bloomfield, NY where we enjoyed a time of fellowship and the sharing of God’s word. Then on the 25th we, along with some of our prison ministry volunteers, took a tour of the future site of the Seneca County Jail in Romulus, NY. It is still a work in progress projected to be finished in early 2007 but it will provide the much needed space. The next day I once again had the opportunity to co-host the television program “Jesus Is the Way” with our dear friend Rev. Gamaliel Ayala. It can be seen on Rochester local cable channel 15 every Saturday and Sunday. We continue to believe the Lord to draw souls to Himself in the City of Rochester. At the end of July, as many of you already know, I received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Northwestern Theological Seminary. It was bestowed by Dr. Gary Amoldovar. The event took place at the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Queens, NY where Bishop Kittim and Dr. Rosa Silva are the pastors. We truly enjoyed being with our friends and family that we had not seen in a while. It was such a blessing to see my sister from Puerto Rico who was still recovering from back surgery. She finally gave her heart to the Lord because of all we had gone through over the previous months. She realized she did not have what we have: the Prince of Peace! It was worth all we went through to see her come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ! Halleluiah! While in Queens we stayed with our friends Mayra and Jose Abeu. Jose had to be out of town part of the time but we spent time with Mayra who is the New York State coordinator of Prison Fellowship for Angel Tree. She took us to her Manhattan office just a short walk from Ground Zero, still an overwhelming site even after 5 years. The church (which we visited) that stood in the shadow of the World Trade Center still stands in silent witness of God’s grace and protection. Nothing was touched when the towers fell and it’s still providing a place of prayer and comfort for all who come in recognition His faithfulness.

Upon our return we attended Joshua Revolution’s “Field of Miracles” at Frontier Field in Rochester, NY on August 18-19. We were blessed to have a time of fellowship with our friend Nicky Cruz as it had been a while since we had last seen each other.

The month of September found me conducting a series of services in Puerto Rico for alumni of Christ-centered programs (such as Teen Challenge, Youth Challenge, Pivot, Anchor House to name a few). It was a way of celebrating many years of victorious living in Christ as well as a way of encouraging those still going through the program that they can make it because He is faithful! We held the event from September 28-30th at the church connected to the Teen Challenge Program in Bayamon. The director, Rev. Luis Albertin said he was blessed. Out of it came the salvation of 21 souls for the Lord! Glory to God!

Continue to keep us in prayer as I will be going to California November 15th for several days and then early next year we’ll be going to Virginia first and then back to Puerto Rico for street meetings and prison services.

We deeply appreciate all of you and we thank God for your many prayers and faithful giving on our behalf. We know it was your prayers that sustained us during my many illnesses.

May God richly bless you! Be encouraged in the Lord! (Psalm 68:1-4)

Yours in Christ,

Herman & Sandy
