APR-MAY-JUNE 2005

Dear Christian Friends:

We're writing to you once again to encourage you in the Lord and to let you know that HE IS STILL ON THE THRONE! He has been blessing the jail/prison ministry as well as proving Himself to be true time after time to His church.

For us April was a month spent in rejoicing in what the Lord has done. We attended the 70th anniversary of Faith Temple (Rochester, NY) where our good friend Rev. Mary Edlin is the pastor. We rejoiced with her as we looked back over God's faithfulness through the years. Then I went to participate in a service for Rev. and Mrs. Emilio Martinez who were celebrating 35 years of pastoral ministry. They are the pastors of Bi-lingual Christian Fellowship in Harrisburg, PA. They were also among the first staff members for the fledgling Teen Challenge Training Center in Rherersburg, PA. Then they moved on to become pastors in the pioneering of a much needed church for many of those graduating from the training center. They truly are an inspiration to all of us who went through the training center. It was also a blessing to spend time with Rev. Al Rainbow, who was one of my instructors while I was at the training center back in 1967-1968. Also during April, my wife Sandra spoke at the Newark, NY chapter of the Women's Aglow. While I was away our volunteers at the Seneca County Jail had a blessed service with Pastor Richard Johnson celebrating communion with inmates.

In May, I had the privilege of assisting Dr. Rus Jeffrey (pastor of Fresh Wind Ministries in Newark, NY) in the dedication of our grandson to the Lord. It really inspired us to see another family member being presented to the Lord. Then May 13-15th I went to New York City to speak. On the 13th I had the honor to speak in the evening service at Church of the Revelation in the Bronx where our good friend, Rev. Ben Torres is the pastor as well as Teen Challenge alumnus. The Lord gave me a good word to share from Ephesians 2:11-15 entitled "Remember and Don't Forget". The Holy Spirit moved tremendously and we thank the Lord for touching His people! Alleluia! Then on the 15th I shared a short testimony about where God brought me from at the Freeport Bible Center in Long Island. One soul accepted Christ and many came forward to receive the blessing of the Lord. That afternoon I was asked by Bishop Kittim Silva (who is my pastor when I'm in New York City) to preach at the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ (where he pastors) in Queens, NY. The Lord moved mightily and the saints were edified with many coming forward for prayer. Upon my return we, along with our volunteers went to the Seneca County jail to minister in two services. God touched the guys wonderfully & 10 souls were added to the Kingdom! Praise the Lord! One was an elderly man who never knew that Jesus came to seek and save the lost! He just sobbed like a baby as he came forward to receive the Savior. There's joy in heaven when even one comes to the Lord!

We then had the opportunity to go to a presentation of Prison Fellowship at Victory Baptist Church (Henrietta, NY) where I was given an unexpected opportunity to share. We had a wonderful time in the Lord and delighted to see how God is going to use jail/prison ministry to bring unity to the Body of Christ. No one ministry has the ability to do it all. We need each other! Unity is not optional but a command and that is where the blessing of God flows from (Psalm 133).

Then came June! This month presents two milestones. First we celebrated 29 years of marriage and we thank our God for His faithfulness to us! Next, our youngest son graduated from high school. It truly was the blessing of God to see Him at work. After struggling along with an undiagnosed learning disability, the Lord brought the right people along at the right time during the second half of Jesse's junior year. Finally someone was listening to what we had been trying to tell them for the last seven years! In all that time Jesse never gave up or even entertained the thought he should quit school even though it was difficult beyond measure. Once the learning disability was diagnosed God not only transformed Jesse but gave us an opportunity to witness to all of his teachers, ones who said he could not read and ones who actually said he was stupid and figured he would never amount to anything, much less graduate! TO GOD BE THE GLORY, GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE! Now Jesse knows he has hope and a future and there is nothing more precious than for anyone to have hope, especially hope in the Lord!

Please continue to pray for us and for the plans we have to go back to Cuba in November of this year, the Lord willing. There are many challenges to overcome in order to accomplish this goal but we know our God is able!

May God richly bless you and may you be encouraged in the Lord! (Jeremiah 29:11)

Yours in His Service,

Herman & Sandra
